Aren’t hugs beautiful? Sometimes, I wonder if they’re not the most underrated (or in some special cases, misused) form of expressing love. It’s so strange and amusing – the way you just wrap your arms around someone, and in that brief moment, everything else around you comes to a standstill. All the pain and misery/elation and excitement/just mere love is expressed so beautifully in that exchange. Hugs also help in easing the awkwardness – when you meet someone for the first time, when you run into a long-lost friend, when you don’t know how to stop someone from crying or even when you say something rude and don’t know how to apologise.
There’s something extremely comforting about being wrapped in someone’s arms. (Usually, someone you know and love.) Hugs have always had the power to reach out to people in a way that even the most beautiful arrangement of words won’t. I love hugs, and would go so far as to say it is one of the best human gestures to have ever been invented. If you’re reading this, here’s a hug from me to you!
